Every year, World Hand Hygiene Day is celebrated on May 5th. This year, World Hand Hygiene Day falls on Sunday.
History:
In an attempt to improve hand hygiene, led especially by WHO health professionals, the annual Save Lives: Clean Your Hands campaign was launched by the World Health Organization in 2009. Since then, every year, World Hand Hygiene Day Mãos is celebrated on May 5th. .
Meaning:
“Save Lives: Clean Your Hands” incorporates an annual global day to focus on the importance of improving hand hygiene in healthcare, with WHO providing support for these efforts. A set of tools and materials to improve hand hygiene has been created by building on a foundation of existing research and evidence and rigorous testing, as well as working closely with a range of experts in the field. The tools aim to help translate into practice a multimodal strategy to improve and maintain hand hygiene in healthcare,” the World Health Organization wrote on its official website.
