Superload Traffic Warning


About Super Charge

This is the twelfth of nearly two dozen “superloads” that will go from a dock on the Ohio River near Manchester in Adams County to New Albany in Licking County. That payload, an air handler known as a cold box used in the silicon chip manufacturing process, measures approximately 23 feet tall, 20 feet wide, 280 feet long and weighs 916,000 pounds.

The move is scheduled to last more than a week. It will make stops in West Portsmouth, Lucasville, Waverly, Chillicothe, Rickenbacker, Groveport, Pickerington and Pataskala before being delivered on Tuesday, June 25.

Route information

June 16th (day 1) — Originates in Adams County, travels to Scioto County
6:00 am Departure (approximately)

  • The first load is scheduled to begin moving east on U.S. Route 52
  • The load is expected to cross and travel in the wrong direction in the US Route 52 Westbound lanes just before the junction of SR 239 and US Route 52.
  • Freight will travel north on the SR 239 southbound ramp toward SR 73/SR 852

Overnight location: West Portsmouth

June 17th (day 2) – Originates and travels through Scioto County
7:45 am Departure (approximately)

  • Freight will travel south in the northbound lanes of SR 73/SR 852 to U.S. Route 52
  • It will then head east in the westbound lanes on US Route 52 to US Route 23 in Portsmouth.
  • Travel north on U.S. Route 23 in the northbound lanes to the intersection of Kinneys Lane and Argonne Road, where you will cross into the northbound lanes toward Lucasville

Overnight location: South of Lucasville

June 18th (day 3) – Originates in Scioto County, travels through Pike County and Ross County
6:00 am Departure (approximately)

  • Continue traveling north on US Route 23 to Piketon, where you will cross into the southbound lanes of US Route 23 at Market Street to bypass the traffic lights and then cross back into the northbound lanes of US Route 23
  • Travel north on US Route 23 to Waverly

Night spot: North Waverly

June 19th (day 4) – Originates in Pike County and travels to Ross County
6:00 am Departure (approximately)

  • Continue north on US Route 23 to Chillicothe
  • Take US Route 35 West to SR 104 North
  • SR 104 North towards SR 207

Overnight location: North Chillicothe

June 20th (5th) – Originates in Ross County, travels through Pickaway County and Franklin County

5:45 am Departure (approximately)

  • Continue traveling north on SR 104 to SR 762 near Commercial Point
  • Travel east on State Route 762 to Rickenbacker Parkway

Staying place: Rickenbacker

June 21st (day 6) – Extra Day if we don’t arrive at Rickenbacker on Day 5

June 22nd (7th) – Originates and travels through Franklin County
5:45 am Departure (approximately)

  • Travel north on Rickenbacker Parkway North to State Route 317
  • Travel north on State Route 317 through Groveport to Bixby Road East

Overnight location: Groveport

June 23rd (day 8) – Originates in Franklin County, travels to Fairfield County

5:45 am Departure (approximately)

  • Travel east on Bixby Road to US Route 33
  • Travel east in the westbound lanes of US Route 33 to Gender Road Southbound to the US Route 33 Westbound ramp at Canal Winchester
  • Travel in the wrong direction on Gender Road Southbound to the U.S. Route 33 Westbound ramp
  • Take State Route 674/Gender Road North to Brice Road
  • Take Brice Road North to the intersection with Tussing Road/State Route 204 in Columbus
  • Travel east on Tussing Road/State Route 204 East toward State Route 310

Overnight location: Pickerington

June 24th (9th) – Originates in Fairfield County and travels to Licking County
9:00 am Departure (approximately)

  • Continue east on Tussing Road/State Route 204 East to State Route 310
  • Travel north on State Route 310 to US Route 40 at Etna
  • Travel west on US Route 40 to Mink Street
  • Travel north on Mink Street to State Route 16
  • Travel east on State Route 16 toward State Route 310

Staying place: Pataskala

June 25th (10th) – Originates and travels through Licking County
9:00 am Departure (approximately)

  • Travel east on State Route 16 to State Route 310
  • Travel north on State Route 310 to State Route 161
  • Travel west on State Route 161 to Mink Street
  • Travel north on Mink Street to Clover Valley Road NW
