His limitations are in the pick-and-roll, where only 8% of his made baskets occurred in that set, and defensively he doesn’t have the foot speed to defend the switch, forcing him to be more of a drop coverage center.

His off-ball movement needs some work and he sometimes clogs the lane with his attempts to get to the rim.

  Zaccharie Risacher, the projected No. 1 pick, is living in the moment

  Victor Wembanyama was still the name on the tip of everyone’s tongue heading into Tuesday’s NBA Draft availability, even though he’s no longer the star of this particular show. Such is life when the first round of Wednesday’s draft lacks seasoning and recognizable names.

  But it is also the case when the players competing for first choice – Alexandre Sarr and Zaccharie Risacher – also come from France, thus following in Wembanyama’s footsteps.

  Sarr repeatedly turned down invitations to coach for the top-picked Atlanta Hawks, which was confirmed by Hawks general manager Landry Fields on the radio earlier in the day.

  That leaves Risacher. But in drafts where there is no clear first choice, anything can happen.

  Risacher has been on the professional radar for a long time. He and Sarr are back, playing against each other as teenagers, but Risacher made a leap last year. He’s a 6-foot-1 forward who transformed into a lockdown shooter after apparently struggling at the Nike Hoop Summit a year ago.

  Knicks’ OG Anunoby to return on five-year, $212.5M contract: Report

  The New York Knicks are having a very good week.

  Knicks star OG Anunoby plans to re-sign with the team on a five-year deal worth $212.5 million, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

  Anunoby achieved unrestricted freedom by declining the player option for the final season of the four-year, $72 million contract he signed with the Raptors in December 2020. Three years after signing that deal — a stretch that saw Anunoby average 16.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, shoot 38.2 percent from 3-point range and emerge as one of the league’s most versatile defenders — Toronto traded him to the Knicks in exchange for forward RJ Barrett and guard Immanuel Quickley.
