MTA is the best route to the ICC T20 World Cup


LIRR and NICE Bus team up to provide service

Thousands of cricket fans from around the world are expected to watch matches between June 3 and 12

The Ninth Edition of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the USA and West Indies, takes place at a new temporary stadium built at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow from June 3 to 12 and at Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reminding fans that public transportation is the fastest and most environmentally friendly way to get to Eisenhower Park for the tournament.

“The LIRR is the fastest, cheapest and most environmentally friendly route to great cricket action at every ICC T20 World Cup match at the stadium at Eisenhower Park,” said LIRR President Rob Free. “LIRR is adding extra stops at Westbury Station. Viewers should use the TrainTime app to see which trains have added stops to get there quickly and safely.”

“Working with LIRR, NICE Buses will transport Westbury LIRR Riders directly to and from the Eisenhower Park facility before and after each departure, making access easy and convenient,” said Nassau Inter-County Express CEO Jack Khzouz. “Visit NICEBus.com for additional details.”

The LIRR will provide service to the ICC T20 World Cup at Eisenhower Park via Westbury Station, which is accessible from the Port Jefferson/Huntington, Ronkonkoma branches, just a 45-minute ride from Penn Station. Fans traveling from Long Island on other branches can reach Westbury Station by changing in Jamaica.

In addition to the already robust Main Line service to Westbury Station, the LIRR will add a stop there on 14 westbound and 15 eastbound Ronkonkoma Branch trains on June 3, 5, 7, 10, 11 and 12 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. :00h

On the weekend of June 8 and 9, 18 Ronkonkoma Branch trains will add a stop at Westbury in each direction every day between 8 a.m. and 4:40 p.m.

On Sunday, June 9, the Mets will host a viewing party for the India-Pakistan game. The LIRR offers direct service to Mets-Willets Point Station via the Port Washington Branch, just a 19-minute ride from Penn Station. Fans traveling from Long Island on other branches can reach Citi Field by transferring in Woodside, just a five-minute drive from the stadium.

Westbury Station is an ADA accessible station from both “A” and “B” platforms.

Customers with mobility limitations may request assistance boarding and/or exiting the Long Island Rail Road by contacting LIRR Care at 718-547-7227 at least two hours before their train’s scheduled departure time. Telephone support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.

NICE Bus will operate buses between Westbury Station and Eisenhower Park to take fans to the stadium.

Customers have many options to receive announcements and information about planned and real-time service changes, as well as 24/7 customer support in their native language.

TrainTime App – The MTA’s TrainTime app is the essential companion for navigating the MTA’s commuter rail system. Customers can plan their journey, buy tickets, check train status and chat with customer service, all in one app. The app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play.

mta.info – The definitive source of real-time arrival information and service change information for every line or route in the MTA system. Customers can find current status at mta.info and upcoming planned service changes using the search tool at mta.info/alerts.

MTA App – Customers using the comprehensive MTA smartphone app will see real-time train and bus arrival times and other travel information for all MTA services, all in one place. The app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play.

Email and text alerts – Customers can sign up to receive email and SMS alerts tailored to their specific commute and travel times. They can also sign up to receive newsletters from the MTA, such as The Weekender, a weekly newsletter that covers major service changes planned for the weekend.

511 – For those who prefer to contact the MTA by phone, information is available at 511. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can contact their preferred service provider to obtain the free 711 relay to reach the MTA at 511.
