Jak Jones vs Kyren Wilson LIVE: Final scores and updates from the World Snooker Championship

Man bites boy’s ear live at World Snooker Championship

Qualifier Jak Jones will have to fight back from an 11-6 deficit after Kyren Wilson made a dominant start to this World Snooker Championship final and then claimed a dramatic final frame on the opening night.

The first session of the Crucible Theatre’s best of 35 plays, held over two days, was controlled from start to finish by Wilson, opening with an excellent 129 and scoring freely throughout with a nervous Jones unable to find his flow. With some uncharacteristically loose safety play from the Welshman providing him with regular opportunities to build breaks, Wilson showed his clean cue to win the first seven frames of the match before Jones finally got on the board in the final frame of the afternoon session to progress. . 7-1.

Jones fought back in the night session, however, and reached the final frame of the night just four frames behind. He cleared the final red to leave Wilson needing a snooker, but Wilson managed to find the snooker and pot of all colors – including a tense final black at the end of a long battle – to steal the frame and take an 11-6 during the night lead.

World Snooker Championship: Jak Jones 6-11 Kyren Wilson

Impressive from Jones, one shot to zero, but he hits the red and avoids the blue on his way back around the table. What a chance now!

A nice positional shot from the green and he is in the red in the middle of the pack.

And Wilson seems prepared to take advantage of the first opportunity that presents itself. In and around the black, a composite beginning, this.

But there’s the slip! He blocked the blueprint that was available before. Wilson plays it safe… but not well! Tension in the Crucible!

It’s Wilson to break and it’s a little short.

Jones has a small chance immediately with some reds.

What a stunning pot, a bit unlucky to cut another red, leaving a long blue and… NO! It shakes the pocket jaws and leaves.

Ronnie O’Sullivan casts doubt on the possibility of playing future tournaments in Great Britain: ‘There is a tax to be paid’

O’Sullivan will set off on an exhibition tour of China, Finland and Bulgaria next week, insisting he will pick his future tournaments and increasingly prioritize big-money offers from Saudi Arabia and the Far East.

The 48-year-old recently signed an agreement with the Saudis that ironically requires him to sign a new contract with the World Snooker Tour in order to fulfill his obligation to play in the first Saudi Masters in Riyadh at the end of August.
