Inriver’s new CEO is a B2B e-commerce technology veteran


Product information management technology is crucial to effective product content distribution in successful retail and B2B ecommerce, so it’s no wonder PIM provider inriver has appointed another CEO with extensive technology experience of e-commerce.

Rohit Goyal, a former senior executive involved in product engineering at Salesforce Commerce Cloud and other digital commerce platforms, has joined inriver as its chief executive.

Goyal succeeds Niels Stenfeldt, an enterprise data management veteran who stepped down in March after taking over as CEO in September 2022. Stenfeldt joins inriver after serving as CEO of data management company Stibo Systems and in executive positions in companies such as Oracle and SEIVA.

Moving beyond a ‘transformative’ 2023

“2023 was a transformative year at inriver, with the company building on a solid foundation and reinvigorating its brand in the market,” says Goyal. He adds that inriver will “strengthen our offerings” to “help brands, manufacturers and retailers leverage product insights to drive profit and delight their customers at every touchpoint.”

Inriver serves more than 700 customers involved in B2B and retail digital commerce, including cable manufacturer Prysmian Group and consumer brand New Balance. The global PIM software market will reach about $23.8 billion in 2027, up from $12.2 billion in 2022, according to a forecast from research firm MarketandMarkets Inc.

“Goyal’s track record of driving innovation, business scalability and engineering excellence at companies like Salesforce Commerce Cloud/Demandware and TrueMotion uniquely prepares him to lead inriver,” said Johan Boström, co-founder and board director at inriver. “Now more than ever, customers are striving to deliver exceptional brand experiences across channels, and Goyal’s dual focus on customer success and product excellence comes at precisely the right time to help them achieve this objective. We are excited to have him on board.”

Prior to joining the inriver team, Goyal served as chief operating officer at TrueMotion (since acquired by Cambridge Mobile Telematics), where he was responsible for technology and products, including data science, engineering, product management, design and customer services.

Previously, Goyal served as senior vice president of product and engineering at e-commerce platform company Demandware, driving product strategy, roadmap and execution, says inriver. He helped facilitate the sale and integration of Demandware into Salesforce Inc.’s e-commerce technology to form Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

Goyal has also served as an advisor to several B2B SaaS startups, including Kasisto, a digital experience platform. He received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Denison University, master’s and doctorate degrees in computer science from Ohio State University, and MBA from MIT Sloan.
