‘Gaslit’ Britney Spears details incident at Chateau Marmont
Britney Spears has a few things to say about what happened last week when she was photographed leaving the Chateau Marmont wearing very little clothing.
The Grammy winner sprained her ankle a week ago when she tried to jump into her suite at the famous hotel and paramedics were called, but she was not treated by medical staff before returning home. The Times confirmed that Spears also got into a fight at the time with her boyfriend Paul Soliz, which resulted in the pop star leaving the hotel with her own security detail.
The “…Baby One More Time” singer claimed at the time that paramedics knocked on her door “illegally.”
“I honestly wish my life was as wild as it was portrayed!!!,” Spears wrote Monday on Instagram, sharing incongruous images of herself on horseback on what appeared to be a ranch. “Anyway, some shit really happened to my foot and I might need to have surgery…fingers crossed I hope not, but I feel like I was harassed, gaslighted, and tricked into going out on the street when my car should have been. . be there !!!”
The 42-year-old, whose past erratic behavior led to a 13-year conservatorship that was terminated in 2021, has refuted a wide-ranging report from TMZ alleging she was having a “mental breakdown” the night of the Chateau Marmont incident.
“I was in my pajamas and yes, I was crying because I hurt my foot!!! No breakdown!!! I’m a grown woman who is actually very naive in most situations!!!,” the “Toxic” and “Hold Me Closer” singer said in the video. “I’m just embarrassed they put me in pajamas!!! I don’t feel loved… I feel mistreated!!! That being said, I’m going to treat myself this week!!!”
The singer and dancer had already declared on Instagram that “the news is false”, posting a video showing her swollen ankle and saying that she injured it when trying to do a jump in the living room of her hotel suite. She said she “fell and was embarrassed” and that the arrival of paramedics “caused this huge scene, which was so unnecessary” when all she needed was ice. It’s unclear who called authorities.
Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, confirmed Friday that the agency received a 911 call for the Chateau Marmont at 12:42 a.m. Thursday. Citing medical privacy rules, he was unable to identify the person to whom the call was made.
Humphrey said paramedics were dispatched to the hotel after a person requested help for an adult female who had been injured. He said the caller did not provide details about the injury. The ambulance left Chateau Marmont at 1:17 am without transporting the person and there was no response from the authorities.
The spokesperson had no comment on allegations Spears made about paramedics on social media, which also included claims about her mother, Lynne Spears, and adulation for her personal attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, who she said helped her to overcome the Chateau ordeal.
Earlier this month, Rosengart was instrumental in resolving a years-long dispute with her father and former guardian, Jamie Spears, over the payment of the elder Spears’ legal fees and how he managed his daughter’s finances during the controversial legal settlement. .
“The Woman in Me” author also reached a divorce settlement with her third husband, Sam Asghari, which was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court last week.
