The Army website advises soldiers, especially those stationed at Fort Huachuca, not to travel within 50 miles of the border, “because of the increasing rate of widespread and violent crime in Mexico, most soldiers are not authorized to travel to borders of Mexico.” This includes trips to the border towns of Agua Prieta, Naco and Nogales in Arizona.

In light of these warnings, it is crucial that travelers stay informed and evaluate the risks before deciding to travel from Sierra Vista to Mexico. It is always recommended to check the latest travel advisories and health advisories before planning any international travel.
