A cat owner entertained TikTok fans after sharing a video of his cat struggling to figure out how to get around his new bookshelf.
In a post shared on the social media platform on Wednesday under the username @shvdowvlchemist, the cat tries to find the glass shelf where he used to stretch out, preparing to jump onto it before slipping and quickly realizing there isn’t actually one. any glass.
At that moment the cat does his best to regain his balance, but still ends up on the floor, next to his brother who suffered the same fate.
“I’m building a new shelf and my cats don’t understand that the glass on the old shelf is gone,” the post says.
A caption added: “Also my stupid laugh. I couldn’t hold it in, it went on for 15 minutes straight.”

Thanks to their highly developed internal auditory system, cats generally have an excellent sense of balance. They also have a very flexible back and no true collarbone, which VetStreet says helps them turn and always land upright.
When a cat loses its ability to balance, there are generally three main possible causes. It could be a brain problem, including tumors and traumatic injuries, among others; a back problem; or an inner ear problem.

The video quickly went viral on social media, attracting viewers from across TikTok. So far, it has received over 1.6 million views and 288,600 likes on the platform.
One user, Diala, commented: “The black cat trying different angles to see if it will change.” And The Christine said: “Gray slipping through the air and fighting for his life made me laugh.”
Clem wrote: “OK, but can we take a moment and talk about their agility? The second one notices and instantly grabs the side, I love cats.”
Oliflowerfang added: “You know when there’s an extra step you don’t see and you get shaken? I feel like this is the equivalent of a cat.”
