A Cat’s Adorable Way to Let His Owner Know He Wants to Go Out Melts Hearts

A Texas cat has melted hearts on social media after her owner revealed her pet’s special way of letting her know he’s ready for a walk.

In a viral video shared on Instagram on Wednesday under the username @peachandpumpky, the cat, named Cherry, can be seen grabbing the leash and carrying it to her owner, before climbing into a pink bag.

The poster then asks her, “Do you know how to go somewhere?”, and Cherry responds with a loud meow, indicating that she is ready to go. “The toys in the bag she also put there,” reads a caption shared alongside the viral clip.

All cats need exercise to be healthy and happy, but the amount needed varies depending on factors such as age, health conditions, personality and whether they are an indoor or outdoor cat.

In general, cats need about 30 minutes of physical activity every day, according to Catster, a feline wellness expert. Indoor felines will need to be actively encouraged to play to avoid boredom and all the mischievous behaviors it causes, such as scratching the sofa or curtains, says British animal charity Blue Cross.

Outdoor cats generally spend a lot of time during the day exploring their neighborhood, so they may not need much play time when they return home.

The video quickly went viral on social media, garnering viewers from all over TikTok. To date, it has received over 7.8 million views and over 568,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Brittacus, commented: “My cat does this too. Usually when she sees me putting on my shoes, she jumps into her carrier with her leash on and meows tirelessly at me.”

Valgarcmed1986 posted: “I regret not training my cat, she is older now.”

Meech__218 wrote: “Oh my gosh, not only are these cats absolutely gorgeous and Cherry so well trained.

Takoninja added, “I think Cherry would be a good candidate for button training, she clearly has a strong desire to communicate and does a great job saying what she wants!”
