2024 World Series Of Poker Las Vegas Schedule & WSOP Milestones

O World Series of Poker Less than a week away, and energy and excitement are building ahead of the 55th annual event in Las Vegas. Memorial Day weekend brings tens of thousands of additional visitors to the Las Vegas Strip, where Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, on behalf of Caesars Entertainment, will host the WSOP for the third consecutive year. The WSOP’s seven-week schedule of 99 gold bracelet poker events runs from May 28 to July 17, 2024.

Last year’s WSOP set field size records in more than 10 tournaments. This included a record 10,043 entries for the World Championship Main Event. The record $12.1 million payout to 35-year-old winner Daniel Weinman came from live poker’s biggest ever prize pool – a staggering $93,399,900.

I recently spoke with WSOP Vice President Jack Effel to get more information about the 2024 World Series of Poker.

“Poker continues to trend upward,” Effel said. “The barometer for poker in general and for health is highand access to poker tournaments and cash games continues to grow.”

Noting last year’s record attendance, including at the WSOP Main Event, Effel added: “Poker has transformed into a sporting activity. It takes a very different level of training to be able to play or play the game than it did 20 years ago when the ‘Moneymaker Effect’ caused a huge boom in poker.”

WSOP on the Las Vegas Strip

For the third year in a row, the WSOP will be held on Las Vegas Blvd, at the Paris Hotel & Casino, and at the renamed Horseshoe Las Vegas, formerly Bally’s.

Vegas Golden Knights Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Marchessault will announce the ceremonial “shuffle up and deal” to open the 55th World Series of Poker on Tuesday, May 28, after Labor Day.

Marchessault will then participate in the new WSOP $5,000 buy-in Champions Reunion No-limit Hold’em Freezeout, the first of 99 live events this summer. The tournament features a bounty format that gives players who eliminate a former Main Event champion an automatic entry into the 2024 WSOP Main Event.

Along with the new Champions Reunion event, a $500 Kickoff N0-Limit Freezeout on May 29, followed by a $1,000 Mystery Millions No-Limit Hold ’em event, with four kickoff flights starting on May 30, will boost energy and enthusiasm for the 2024 WSOP.

Continuous Growth of Poker

New poker formats and variations, along with a diversity of buy-in levels, continue to grow the game. The WSOP is the Olympics of Poker, bringing together people from all over the world and organizing a festival that offers a diversity of buy-ins and games. People are able to compete at the highest levels while also being offered unique opportunities to compete in many variations and styles of poker.

“The barometer and health of poker today is high, as far as participation in poker tournaments, live games and absolute access to the game,” said Effel. “More offers from state to state and interest in the game continued to grow.”

Poker is growing and the WSOP continues to create the real offering and competitions for people to play poker at the highest level. The WSOP is a demanding destination and more and more people are playing in satellites to win a seat in bigger and bigger events.

“We are part of something special at the World Series of Poker,” says Effel.

WSOP Main Event

July 3rd to 6th: Event #81: $10,000 Main event No-Limit Hold ’em World Championship (AD Flights)

Last year’s record attendance and 10,043 entries for the $10,000 buy-in Main Event broke the previous record of 8,773 entries in 2006.

“The Main Event is the purest and best tournament ever,” says Effel. “It’s the most significant event and the tournament that everyone wants to play in.”

Not to be outdone, last year’s $1,000 WSOP Women’s Championship The NL Hold ’em event crowned the gold bracelet winner for the first time. The tournament attracted the largest field of women’s events in history with 1,295 registered players. This year’s WSOP Ladies Championship will be Event #71 on Friday, June 28th.

The popular $400 COLOSSUS The No-Limit Hold’em tournament is Event #70 on Saturday, June 29, leading into the WSOP Main Event. Last year’s Colossus event attracted nearly 16,000 entries with a first-place prize of $501,000.

All mega satellites are multi-table landmark formats and are located in the Normandy Ballroom at the Horseshoe, up the escalator from the main poker room on the casino floor.

Two additional ballrooms have been added for the 2024 World Series of Poker. A total of five ballrooms with nearly 700 poker tables, covering more than 200,000 square feet of gaming space, were set up for the world’s largest poker tournament series.

Deep Stack Daily Tournaments

In addition to the 99 gold bracelet events at WSOP 2024, players can compete in daily one-day No-Limit Hold’em Deep Stack tournaments from May 28 to July 16. for the accelerated format tournaments at 4pm and 8pm. Starting June 3rd, a daily $250 HORSE Deep Stack tournament will also be available.

WSOP Registration and Online Options

Last year, around 25% of WSOP tournament buy-ins were in the form of digital registration via the online platform. Players can use a credit card or tournament account that they top up in advance. That number is expected to grow this year and creates less time for players to wait in lines to register for events or collect funds by cashing in during tournaments.

The crossover between poker players and sports bettors is evident in Las Vegas poker rooms, with many TV monitors in every poker room showing live sports and games. Sports bettors can enjoy a new and improved Caesars Sportsbook app to bet on sporting events while playing WSOP poker with in-person betting stations, kiosks and a newly remodeled sportsbook in Paris Las Vegas also available.

Following last year’s record attendance and massive field, this year’s WSOP in Las Vegas features 99 gold bracelet events and more tournaments and online options. Lots of action in poker tournaments to pass, bet and raise to accumulate more chips and win money in the World Series of Poker.
