2 from Billtown tell congressman about obstacles to small businesses | News, sports, jobs

Two Williamsport business owners were recently honored by a federal lawmaker who serves this region at an event where they highlighted the challenges entrepreneurs and small business owners face during President Joe Biden’s administration.

According to a press release, Vincent and Selina Pulizzi, owners of Labels by Pulizzi, were highlighted by U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Dallas, as they participated in the House Small Business Committee’s “Showcase for Small Businesses” event at the Capitol building.

“Business owners from across the country were invited to participate to highlight their businesses and share with members of Congress the direct impact that administration-imposed rules, regulations, and onerous taxes have had on their businesses,” said the press release from Meuser’s office.

Meuser invited the couple to the event. Labels by Pulizzi was one of the 15 companies presented.

Family owned since 1968, Labels by Pulizzi is a custom printing company employing 32 people in Lycoming County.

Since opening its doors, the company has provided its customers with more than a billion custom labels of all types, the press release stated.

“Small businesses are the heart of the American economy and the foundation of our communities,” Meuser said, according to the press release. “We champion small businesses across Pennsylvania for everything they do to support our local economies. The Small Business Showcase was a great opportunity to shine a light on Main Street and give them the recognition they have earned. I was happy to be joined by Labels by Pulizzi owners Vince and Selina Pulizzi to highlight their businesses and share with members of Congress the obstacles entrepreneurs face.

“As chair of the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Taxes and Access to Capital, championing pro-growth initiatives that benefit entrepreneurs is one of my top priorities,” Meuser continued. “I am committed to fighting for policies that help our small business community thrive, while also working to oppose the Biden administration’s burdensome rules, regulations and taxes that stifle innovation and make success difficult. Small businesses are suffering from rising inflation, rising energy costs and onerous mandates under this administration.”

“As the third generation owner of a label manufacturer in central Pennsylvania, we have seen the ups and downs of the industry and economy over the years,” the Pulizzis said, according to the press release. “We recognize the current climate in our nation and know it is more important than ever to work together with our leaders to initiate change.”
